OVERNIGHT YOUTH SPECIALIST 1

About the role

The Youth Engagement Specialist will maintain a commitment to the mission and vision of Pivot. Under the direct supervision of Pivot leadership, the specialist will adhere to Pivot and Community Intervention Center operational policies and procedures, promoting a supervised and safe, trauma-focused environment for youth. The role provides emotional support to youth and the community while engaging youth across five domains: Employment, Permanent Connection, Housing and basic needs, Education, and Well-being.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Pivot and Community Intervention Center operational policies and procedures
• Promote a supervised, safe, and trauma-focused environment for youth
• Provide emotional support to youth and the community
• Engage youth in the five domains: Employment, Permanent Connection, Housing and basic needs, Education, and Well-being
• Demonstrate compliance with confidentiality and privacy standards required by the agency and law
• Address conflict and manage difficult youth in a supportive and non-threatening manner
• Respond quickly and safely to crisis situations and emergencies, serving as a settling influence
• Interpret graphs and statistical data
• Perform basic data entry, typing, and use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Write reports, business correspondence, and maintain accurate statistical data
• Present information and respond to questions from clients, consumers, employees, management, and the public

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Pass an OSBI and DHS criminal background investigation
• Not be listed in any Registry of Sexual Offenders
• Demonstrate a commitment to the vision, mission, and “spirit” of Pivot
• Be compassionate, respectful, and trauma-informed in care for all Pivot clients, consumers, and staff
• Demonstrate team skills and respect the diversity and differences of others
• Exhibit professional conduct and appearance
• Basic understanding of adolescent development and behaviors
• Enjoyment of and ability to relate to at-risk youth, with empathy for their experiences
• Self-motivation, initiative, sound judgment, and commitment to ongoing learning

• Ability to work a flexible schedule outside normal business hours, including weekends and holidays

• Ability to perform basic high school mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, rates, and averages)

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED certificate (Bachelor’s degree or further education in Social Work, Human Services, or Psychology preferred)
• Ability to read, understand, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, and government regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and maintain accurate statistical data
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, consumers, employees, management, and the public

Schedule

• Work 11 PM to 9 AM a minimum of 3 days a week, including weekends
• 4 days a week, including weekends
