Pay and Benefits
- Pay Range: $22.00 - $37.00/hour
- Dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through competency assessment tool.
- Shift Differential Pay for Nights and Weekends.
- Mon – Thur: 6pm to 8am = +$3.50/hr.
- Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$3.50/hr.
- Fri - Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.00/hr.
Responsibilities
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
- Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
- Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
- Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
- Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
- Learn high level skills.
- Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
- Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable and skilled in emergency and critical care settings.
- Proficient in anesthesia and monitoring techniques.
- Ability to triage and manage emergency cases effectively.
- Strong understanding of patient vital signs and the ability to interpret them.
- Experience with digital radiography and related techniques.
- Proficiency in administering medications and performing various medical procedures.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and place intravenous and central line catheters.
- Passionate about mentoring and training colleagues.
