Overnight Veterinary Receptionist

About the role

At BluePearl Pet Hospital in Northfield, IL, we are hiring for Overnight Veterinary Receptionists. The pay range for this position is $19.83-$30.00 per hour, with the pay band dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Competitive shift differentials are offered: Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): $4.00, Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): $4.00, and Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8p): $5.50.

Responsibilities

• Greet and make friendly eye contact every time the hospital entry door opens to offer warm and professional acknowledgement.
• Offer a friendly smile, strong eye contact, and an approachable demeanor.
• Be a compassionate listener and speak clearly, slowly, and calmly in person and on the telephone in a way that clients easily understand.
• Assess immediately upon arrival each client’s rare need, as well as the pet’s general condition.
• Determine whether an emergency arrival is a “stat” versus “standard” emergency.
• Respond to non-patient calls or visitors and connect them to the appropriate team member.
• Confirm all appointments in advance ensuring clients receive accurate information about preparing their pet for the appointment.
• Offer emotional support and resource materials to grieving clients in a compassionate and discreet manner.
• Serve as a liaison between clients and service agencies during handling of pet remains by ensuring a complete, accurate, and compassionate process.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in customer service or healthcare preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Schedule

This position is available for Overnight shifts, typically from 6 PM to 8 AM.
