Overnight Licensed Veterinary Technician

About the role

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Midtown, NY, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our thriving Overnight ICU/Patient Care department. This position is offering up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess and triage incoming patients to prioritize urgent care needs.
• Recognize and respond to patients at risk of arrest with advanced CPR protocols.
• Place IV catheters and advanced lines, including jugular catheters and central lines.
• Monitor and manage patients on mechanical ventilation.
• Perform diagnostics and closely monitor critical patients for changes.
• Provide advanced pain management, including CRIs and epidurals.
• Collaborate with veterinarians and team members to deliver exceptional care.
• Mentor and train co-workers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
• Educate pet owners on post-emergency care and recovery plans.
• Maintain a positive, professional attitude in a fast-paced environment.
• Nurse critically ill patients back to health and reunite them with their families.

Requirements

• Current license to practice veterinary technology in New York State.
• Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Knowledge of advanced veterinary techniques and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized veterinary technician program.
• VTNE certification preferred.
• VTS credentialing eligible for higher compensation.

Pay

Pay: $30.00 - $51.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials. This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Schedule

• Shift differential for Nights and Weekends.
• Shift differentials based on a 4-hour minimum.
• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr.
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.50/hr.
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$8.00/hr.
