Overnight ICU Veterinary Assistant

About the role

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their Critical Care department on an overnight basis in Kirkland, WA.

Schedule

• Wednesday–Friday, 6:00 pm–7:00 am
• Shift differentials available based on a 4-hour minimum:
  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 pm–6:00 am: $4.00
  • Saturday–Sunday, 8:00 pm–6:00 am: $5.50

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics (radiographs, lab work, etc.)
• Set up patients in ICU or Inpatient ward
• Discharge patients
• Handle client communication
• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects, and appropriately monitor therapeutic response
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
• Perform phlebotomy
• Perform physical exams; accurately record heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor
