About the role
The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University is seeking full and part-time Overnight Emergency faculty to join our program as part of our inaugural veterinary program and teaching hospital. Selected candidates will be integral in the development of the companion animal emergency/critical care (ECC) service housed within our new Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency care to small animals and pet exotics – including intake, treatment, emergency procedures and/or soft tissue surgeries, and the management of the hospitalized patients.
- Have direct responsibility for teaching and evaluation of veterinary students, interns, and residents in the clinical setting.
- Demonstrate commitment to a positive practice culture and values aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the SSVM.
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an emergency setting OR completion of a structured ER training program for 6 months or more (such as emERge, VEG) OR completion of a small animal rotating internship.
- Demonstrated teaching or training experience in a clinical setting (veterinary students, veterinary technicians, or mentees).
- Currently licensed in or eligible for licensure in NJ.
- NJ CDS permit or obtained upon hire.
- DEA registration or obtained upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing emergency soft tissue surgery.
- Experience and/or interest in pet exotic emergencies.
