About the Role

Join us as an Overnight Emergency Veterinarian at VCA SouthPaws Veterinary Specialists & Emergency in Fairfax, Virginia, and you’ll quickly discover that you’re well supported by world-class medicine, technology, facilities, and a talented team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and skilled emergency care to patients
  • Perform surgeries and other procedures under the supervision of specialists
  • Conduct diagnostic tests and interpret results
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training

Requirements

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university or equivalent
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in Virginia or the ability to obtain
  • A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics

Qualifications

  • Experience in emergency and critical care
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion for learning and staying updated with the latest veterinary practices

Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software

Pay

Compensation is negotiable based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and other relevant credentials. This position may also be eligible for other variable pay programs.

Schedule

24/7/365 support from our CritiCare Department to facilitate overnight/weekend patient care, urgent referrals, and critical care patient needs.
