About Zoomies Chicago

Zoomies is Chicago's premier indoor/outdoor dog park experience — a one-of-a-kind destination where dogs play and people unwind. Our facility features expansive off-leash dog parks, a full-service café, a craft beverage bar, daycare and boarding, professional grooming, and private runs, all under one roof. We're building a team that loves dogs as much as our members do. At Zoomies, every role matters — from the bark rangers keeping our parks safe to the baristas fueling the humans who love them. We're building the future of pet services with a high-energy eatertainment vibe. Because we're a startup, our hiring needs are tied to our 2026 launch milestones. We're starting interviews now to find the perfect fit, with the goal of bringing this role onboard in a few months as we move into our next phase of execution. We value transparency and want to find someone who thrives in a dynamic, startup environment.

Position Overview

The Overnight Pet Care & Facilities Specialist is the quiet backbone of Zoomies — the person who keeps everything running while the city sleeps. You'll be responsible for the overnight care and safety of all boarding dogs on the premises, managing late-night and early-morning check-ins and check-outs, and ensuring every inch of our facility is clean, sanitized, and ready for the day ahead. This is a role for someone who is self-directed, genuinely at ease with animals overnight, and takes real pride in the condition of the spaces they care for. You'll work mostly independently but are never without support — management is always reachable and you'll hand off directly to the opening dayshift team each morning.

Overnight Dog Care

  • Monitor all boarding dogs throughout the overnight shift — conducting regular welfare checks, responding to distress, and ensuring every dog is comfortable, safe, and secure in their suite or run
  • Administer any scheduled overnight feedings, medications, or special care instructions per individual dog records
  • Identify and respond to any health concerns, behavioral changes, or emergencies; contact on-call management immediately when needed
  • Provide calm, reassuring interaction with dogs that may be anxious or unsettled overnight

Check-Ins & Check-Outs

  • Manage late-night and early-morning dog check-ins and check-outs; greet pet parents professionally and process arrivals and departures accurately in our facility software
  • Verify vaccination records and reservation details at check-in; ensure all documentation is complete and up to date
  • Communicate any overnight notes or observations to pet parents at pick-up and to the incoming dayshift team at the end of your shift
  • Coordinate with Canine Care Specialists and Customer Success Associates during shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care
  • When facility and animal care responsibilities allow, assist with administrative tasks such as updating member records, entering reservations, and other light CRM work — a great opportunity to build familiarity with the full scope of Zoomies operations

Facility Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Perform thorough overnight cleaning and sanitation of unoccupied kennel suites, runs, and boarding areas; use good judgment around occupied spaces — dogs need their rest too, and minimizing disruption overnight leads to happier, better-rested dogs the next day
  • Clean and sanitize dog park floors, turf areas, and indoor play spaces in preparation for the next day's opening
  • Clean restrooms and all guest-facing common areas throughout the facility
  • Restock supplies, paper products, and cleaning materials; flag any low-inventory items for the opening team
  • Report any facility maintenance issues — broken equipment, lighting, plumbing, or safety concerns — to management

Shifts

  • Hours: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM
  • Schedule Options: 5 nights per week or 2 nights per week positions available
  • Handoff: Direct shift overlap and handoff with opening Pet Care Specialist team at 6:00 AM

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on dog experience required — daycare, boarding, shelter, rescue, veterinary, or similar environment
  • Prior experience cleaning or maintaining a commercial facility, restaurant, kennel, or similar environment is strongly preferred — overnight facility cleaning is a significant part of this role and familiarity with large-scale sanitation routines will set you up for success
  • Genuine love of dogs and a calm, confident presence around animals overnight — you're comfortable being the only human in the facility with a facility full of dogs
  • Self-motivated and highly reliable; overnight shifts require someone who can work independently without direct supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a spotlessly clean facility
  • Physically capable of the demands of overnight work: cleaning large spaces, lifting dogs up to 60 lbs, and staying alert through a full overnight shift
  • Professional and warm communication skills for interacting with pet parents during late-night and early-morning check-ins and check-outs
  • Organized and detail-oriented; able to follow care instructions accurately and document overnight notes clearly for the incoming team
  • Weekend and holiday availability required
  • All team members are expected to be willing to perform basic dog hygiene tasks including nail trims as needed
  • CPR and Pet First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Dog-friendly personality is non-negotiable — you'll be working around dogs every single day

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (eligible full-time employees)
  • Paid time off (PTO)
  • Employee discounts on all Zoomies products and services
