Position Overview The Overnight Pet Care & Facilities Specialist is the quiet backbone of Zoomies — the person who keeps everything running while the city sleeps. You'll be responsible for the overnight care and safety of all boarding dogs on the premises, managing late-night and early-morning check-ins and check-outs, and ensuring every inch of our facility is clean, sanitized, and ready for the day ahead. This is a role for someone who is self-directed, genuinely at ease with animals overnight, and takes real pride in the condition of the spaces they care for. You'll work mostly independently but are never without support — management is always reachable and you'll hand off directly to the opening dayshift team each morning. What You'll Do Overnight Dog Care Monitor all boarding dogs throughout the overnight shift — conducting regular welfare checks, responding to distress, and ensuring every dog is comfortable, safe, and secure in their suite or runAdminister any scheduled overnight feedings, medications, or special care instructions per individual dog recordsIdentify and respond to any health concerns, behavioral changes, or emergencies; contact on-call management immediately when neededProvide calm, reassuring interaction with dogs that may be anxious or unsettled overnight Check-Ins & Check-Outs Manage late-night and early-morning dog check-ins and check-outs; greet pet parents professionally and process arrivals and departures accurately in our facility softwareVerify vaccination records and reservation details at check-in; ensure all documentation is complete and up to dateCommunicate any overnight notes or observations to pet parents at pick-up and to the incoming dayshift team at the end of your shiftCoordinate with Canine Care Specialists and Customer Success Associates during shift handoffs to ensure continuity of careWhen facility and animal care responsibilities allow, assist with administrative tasks such as updating member records, entering reservations, and other light CRM work — a great opportunity to build familiarity with the full scope of Zoomies operations Facility Cleaning & Maintenance Perform thorough overnight cleaning and sanitation of unoccupied kennel suites, runs, and boarding areas; use good judgment around occupied spaces — dogs need their rest too, and minimizing disruption overnight leads to happier, better-rested dogs the next dayClean and sanitize dog park floors, turf areas, and indoor play spaces in preparation for the next day's openingClean restrooms and all guest-facing common areas throughout the facilityRestock supplies, paper products, and cleaning materials; flag any low-inventory items for the opening teamReport any facility maintenance issues — broken equipment, lighting, plumbing, or safety concerns — to management Shifts Hours: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM Schedule Options: 5 nights per week or 2 nights per week positions available Handoff: Direct shift overlap and handoff with opening Pet Care Specialist team at 6:00 AM What We're Looking For Minimum 1 year of hands-on dog experience required — daycare, boarding, shelter, rescue, veterinary, or similar environmentPrior experience cleaning or maintaining a commercial facility, restaurant, kennel, or similar environment is strongly preferred — overnight facility cleaning is a significant part of this role and familiarity with large-scale sanitation routines will set you up for successGenuine love of dogs and a calm, confident presence around animals overnight — you're comfortable being the only human in the facility with a facility full of dogsSelf-motivated and highly reliable; overnight shifts require someone who can work independently without direct supervisionStrong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a spotlessly clean facilityPhysically capable of the demands of overnight work: cleaning large spaces, lifting dogs up to 60 lbs, and staying alert through a full overnight shiftProfessional and warm communication skills for interacting with pet parents during late-night and early-morning check-ins and check-outsOrganized and detail-oriented; able to follow care instructions accurately and document overnight notes clearly for the incoming teamWeekend and holiday availability requiredAll team members are expected to be willing to perform basic dog hygiene tasks including nail trims as neededCPR and Pet First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)Dog-friendly personality is non-negotiable — you'll be working around dogs every single day Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance (eligible full-time employees)Paid time off (PTO)Employee discounts on all Zoomies products and services Equal Opportunity & Legal Disclosures Zoomies Chicago is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
