Outreach Specialist - Wausau

About the role

Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) is a statewide service with a robust local presence. In this role, you will report to the Regional Manager and work closely with a team of statewide Outreach Specialists from across the state. Your work will help ensure that WPR is an integral part of the local community. This is a part-time, 20-hour-a-week position, and the work schedule will require flexibility, including some nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
• Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
• Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
• Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
• May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
• Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proven ability to collaborate internally within an organization
• Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to work within tight deadlines and manage details
• Valid Driver’s License that meets UW Risk Management Standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional experience in the area of outreach, engagement, or event planning
• Experience using cloud-based technology (Google, Zoom, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience developing external partnerships
• Bachelor’s degree with a focus in marketing, communications, or public relations

Pay

The expected pay for this position is between $24.00 to $27.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

The work schedule will require flexibility and will be determined after hire, with some nights and weekends required. The position is based in Wausau, Wisconsin, and may require travel and occasional work outside in inclement weather.
