Outreach Specialist

About the role
The Outreach Specialist is primarily responsible for deepening customer awareness of and participation in the program suite, including identifying and developing relationships with community-based partner organizations, groups, and networks. This role also involves organizing and attending meetings and events, as well as preparing and presenting information about the various energy waste reduction programs offered by the utility.
Responsibilities
- Embrace and operate within Walker-Miller’s core values.
- Collaborate with local partner organizations to share program updates and cross-promote resources.
- Research community events throughout the partner service territory, work with event coordinators to secure events, handle logistics, registrations, and staff events while developing relationships with community-based organizations.
- Create and staff direct-to-customer outreach opportunities, including meetings, presentations, and events of varied size and scope.
- Assist program management and the Marketing/Creative team in developing communication materials such as case studies, invitations, program descriptions, and presentations.
- Support the Marketing team with participation in larger trade shows and seminar events.
- Manage event coordination from initiation to follow-up, including tracking promotion, RSVPs, securing venues, coordinating room preparation, and food service.
- Track results of outreach efforts in Salesforce and report these to management.
- Create and modify documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for uploading to SharePoint.
- Share best practices and continuously improve opportunities to engage and educate customers.
- Aid with marketing strategy and targeted regions for appointment-level obtainment.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the Outreach Manager/Outreach Team Lead.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one year of experience identifying and developing relationships, as well as collaborating with community organizations (e.g., faith-based, non-profits, schools).
- Minimum one year of experience with event planning from initiation through post-event follow-up, including tracking and reporting outreach efforts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for uploading to SharePoint.
- Strong customer service skills and proficiency in public speaking.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work some weekends and handle a wide variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, organized, self-starter who can work efficiently with little to no guidance and prioritize workload.
- Strong data entry skills for tracking systems and databases.
- Reliable transportation.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing or equivalent study preferred.
- Experience with booth design and setup.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Travel Requirements
Over 50% local travel required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Required to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Noise level is typically moderate.

Pay
Compensation Range: $21.23 - $24.14 per hour. This range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for this role. Final pay may vary based on relevant work experience, skills, certifications, geographic location, and other factors.
