Outreach Provider Relations Representative
This is a field-based position responsible for serving as the key liaison between Intermountain Healthcare and referring providers in a designated geographical area. The Provider Relations Executive (PRE) represents all of Intermountain Healthcare's services to referring practices, develops relationships with practice leaders, physicians, and staff, reinforces appropriate utilization of services, coordinates issue resolution, and acts as a liaison between referring offices and Intermountain Healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Creates and maintains strong relationships with physician practices to ensure seamless access to Intermountain’s physicians, hospital services, and programs, assisting in patient retention across care settings.
- Helps make it easy for patients and providers to enter and remain within Intermountain’s integrated network.
- Develops a deep understanding of the patient and provider experience within the Intermountain system.
- Assesses referring practice exam mix, volume, and operational flow to identify needs and opportunities.
- Builds and maintains professional relationships with clinic leadership, physicians, office staff, hospital executives, service line leaders, and facility administration.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of business development activities using internal and external feedback.
- Identifies and quantifies opportunities by understanding Intermountain’s services, access points, and clinical benefits for patients.
- Targets referral sources with low utilization and develops strategies to increase appropriate service usage.
- Regularly evaluates the marketplace to identify growth opportunities.
- Assists Outreach leadership in developing business development plans aligned with company strategy.
- Meets or exceeds monthly quotas and budget expectations set by Outreach leadership.
- Communicates effectively with internal stakeholders, including department managers, operations officers, and corporate leadership, to resolve issues and improve customer service.
- Utilizes internal personnel for regular visits to referring offices and maintains detailed call logs and visit notes.
- Collaborates with hospital leadership to deliver a consistent Intermountain message and unified approach for referring office satisfaction.
- Delivers effective presentations in group and individual settings, overcoming objections and securing commitments for referrals.
- Maintains strong listening skills and seeks continuous improvement through education and shadowing opportunities.
- Maintains impeccable records of visits, expenditures, and mileage.
Requirements
- Current driver’s license.
- Demonstrated healthcare sales or field-based customer service experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, listening, and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in sales, marketing, business, or a health-related field.
- Experience in the healthcare industry.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to interact with others, requiring clear communication of information.
- Proficiency in operating computers and office equipment, including use of fingers and hands.
- Ability to see and read computer monitors and documents.
- Capability to remain sitting or standing for extended periods while performing work.
Pay
$37.87 - $59.63 per hour, dependent upon experience.
