About the role
The Outreach Program Manager in the Center for Continuing Education manages the operation and ongoing development of credit and non-credit programming in response to identified community needs and in support of the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Responsibilities
- Reviews recommendations for and provides input on the design and development of new outreach programs or services
- Determines outreach program needs and the personnel resource allocation plan
- Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
- Supervises the implementation of outreach-program-focused strategic planning initiatives and objectives
- Develops and implements operating policies and procedures to promote the outreach program in alignment with the strategic plan
- Makes decisions related to program financials to meet or exceed program revenue goals
- Plans and executes balanced budgets, including the management and oversight of profit/loss for discrete programs and quarterly financials for each cost center
- Supports annual and on-going report generation
- Conducts outreach and actively engages in relationship building with a variety of regional constituents
- Recruits, screens, hires, and supervises subject matter experts
- Supervises the work of Continuing Education staff in conjunction with the Director and other Program Managers
- Collaborates with Director and other Program Managers to reinforce a positive and productive team environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Two plus years’ work experience managing educational outreach activities
- Valid driver’s license
Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution (desirable)
- Experience supervising staff and/or the work of staff within a unit
- Working knowledge of the communities and their educational needs within the Twin Ports and surrounding rural areas, especially Northwest Wisconsin
- Experience in program promotion and copy writing
- Experience in instructional design and best pedagogy practices for a variety of learners
Skills
- Knowledge of adult learner concepts and practices
- Knowledge of sound instructional design practices (for both face-to-face and distance learning settings)
- Knowledge of best educational practices for a variety of diverse learners
- Knowledge of continuous performance enhancement practices to improve program quality and responsiveness
- Knowledge of principles of budget development, including course pricing
- Demonstrated skill in financial management
- Proficient use of standard office equipment, presentation technology, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Leadership and development of professional staff in support of individual and institutional goals
- Development and execution of strategic plans and innovative solutions that support program and institutional goals
- Establishment, fostering, and maintenance of long-lasting, beneficial relationships with community members and other constituents
- Effective communication with a diverse campus population
- Good judgment and analysis in decision-making and problem-solving
- Participation in evening, weekend, and travel commitments as necessary
- Professionalism, ethical standards, confidentiality, and sensitivity to information and records
- Planning, organizing, and directing assigned programs and operations
- Driving a vehicle for the purpose of conducting university business and meeting the criteria for operation of state-owned-vehicles – Policy 615
- Work early mornings, evenings, or weekends, with overnight travel as needed

$59,000 - $66,000 annually

Full-Time: 100%, Academic Staff, 12-month ongoing appointment
