Outreach Program Facilitator
About the role
The Outreach Program Facilitator position is responsible for independently presenting the museum’s off-site school programs for elementary-aged students throughout the Denver Metro Area. The position involves leading highly interactive 90-minute classroom programs using established curriculum that combines history, geography, and economics with hands-on learning.
Responsibilities
- Independently leads interactive 90-minute outreach programs: Building Colorado Communities, Building Colorado Cities and Ute Knowledge: STEM Kit programs in elementary school classrooms to groups of up to 30 students at a time.
- May instruct two to four classrooms per day at an individual school.
- Daily shifts vary, typically lasting four to seven hours.
- Facilitates classroom discussions, educational games, and hand-on activities while maintaining a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment.
- Adapts presentation style and classroom management strategies to meet the needs of each classroom while maintaining the quality of established lesson plans.
- Maintains outreach program materials and teaching supplies as assigned at start employment.
- Ensures supplies are organized and inventoried regularly.
- Utilizes classroom technologies such as projection systems, teacher computers, Prezi presentation software, Google Suite, and Google Calendar for scheduling.
- Participates in required training, coaching sessions, staff meetings, and completes all required program evaluations in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required, college coursework or experience in classroom education, history, museum studies, or similar field preferred.
- Experience leading and managing elementary school age students in a classroom or large groups preferred.
- Must have a love of history and ability to share GHM program information in a professional and engaging manner.
- Basic knowledge of Colorado History preferred.
- Ability to adapt needs and decisions to diverse student groups.
- Familiarity with computers, laptops, iPad, computers, laptops, Smartboard and Prezi for teaching aids a plus.
- Must possess excellent organizational, instructional, and communication skills.

- MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: iPad, computer, laptop, Smartboard, portable projector, and projection screen. Personal vehicle for transportation to and from assigned program destinations.

Hiring Range
The hiring range for this non-exempt position is $20.17 - $23.20 per hour.
Driver’s License
This is a part-time position that averages 15-25 hours per week only dependent on bookings. Shifts are typically four to seven hours in length per day. Are you willing and able to work this schedule on an as needed basis?
Availability
