Responsibilities
- Schedules Jackson Insurance Navigator at community events, health fairs and other gatherings.
- Aids Project Director in scheduling outreach and in-reach initiatives.
- Conducts outreach to consumers with a health insurance and coverage option focus.
- Distributes fair and impartial information concerning enrollment in QHPs, the availability of premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions in accordance with federal tax laws.
- Edits outreach materials and provides information about the ten required Essential Health Benefits of all Affordable Care Act policies.
- Assists individuals with the enrollment process and provides referrals to other social service providers or Navigators as needed.
- Handles post-enrollment inquiries and grievances.
- Maintains expertise in Navigator duties and program specifications.
- Gathers information for verification, statistical and grant reporting purposes.
- Maintains consumer presence at locations and activities to ensure outreach efforts in targeted neighborhoods remain viable.
Qualifications
- Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
- Prior experience in HIV/AIDS or HCV services, healthcare coordination, or patient advocacy is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in data entry and electronic medical records.
- Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic diversity.
- Willingness to undergo DOH training and certification in HIV/AIDS testing and counseling.
- Bilingual Spanish and/or Creole.
