Outreach Coordinator (Disaster Legal Services) – Pro Bono Workgroup
About the role
LAFLA is a nonprofit law firm that protects and advances the rights of the most underserved in Greater Los Angeles, leveling the playing field and ensuring access to the justice system. Celebrating 95 years of service, LAFLA is the first and most experienced legal aid organization in the region, with more than 200 employees including over 100 attorneys. Each year LAFLA helps more than 100,000 people through neighborhood offices, courthouse self‑help centers, domestic violence clinics, and impact litigation that drives systemic change.
The Pro Bono Disaster Response (PBDR) team helps disaster survivors understand and advocate for their legal rights, navigate equitable recovery, and avoid displacement. PBDR focuses on FEMA cases, tenants’ rights, public benefits, and consumer rights, and works within LAFLA’s Pro Bono Team to recruit, train, and support volunteers via the Pro Bono Training Institute (PBTI) at pbtraining.org.

The coordinator will coordinate and implement disaster recovery and preparedness outreach to expand the geographic reach of services, collaborate with advocates to develop online trainings and resources for PBTI, and help maintain PBTI’s overall online operations.
