Outreach & Admission Coordinator, Black Honors College (BHC)
Position Summary
The BHC Outreach and Admission Coordinator works to engage and inform current and prospective students in the educational and programmatic components and benefits of the Black Honors College. This involves collaborating with various campus units to develop and implement marketing and communication strategies, and contributing to the development and presentation of information to staff, administrators, and students.
Responsibilities
- Support institutional progress on BHC initiatives
- Develop and present information to Sac State staff, administrators, advisors, counselors, and students
- Contribute to developing and presenting information to regional high schools and community colleges
- Prepare and present information to administrators, counselors, and students
- Review applications and provide conditional admissions to potential students
- Collaborate with the Dean and other staff to provide co-curricular activities for BHC students
Requirements
- Two years of professional experience in student services or a related field
- A master’s degree in a job-related field may substitute for one year of the required experience
- Knowledge of the Black Honors College functions, structure, and outreach practices
- Experience working with student support programs and services that foster success
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities of the program to which assigned
- General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management
- Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations
- Reason logically, collect, compile, analyze, and evaluate data, and make verbal or written presentations based on these data
- Advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required
- Recognize multicultural, multisexed, and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies, and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts
Skills
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to provide services to a diverse student population
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency using standard office software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
- Familiarity working with school-based record/data systems/software (example: PeopleSoft)
- Ability to apply moderately complex rules, regulations, and procedures

Pay
$5,083 per month. Anticipated hiring rate is at the minimum of the classification salary range. CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,083 per month - $7,228 per month.
Schedule
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with occasional evenings and weekends depending on department needs. Summer Hours (May - August) will be 7:30am - 4:00pm with a 30 minute lunch.
