Outpatient Unit Coordinator
Job Overview
This position, under direct supervision, is responsible for providing clerical support to the unit including registration, reception of patients, and gathering of data for service and billing. This position performs various support functions including answering the telephone, accessing, filing, and scanning information into the Electronic medical record. This position also assists with the coordination of daily activities which may include faxing, ordering of supplies, among others. This position provides assistance to nursing staff by performing selected activities (ie, weights, vital signs, assist with ambulation) under the direct supervision of the RN. May perform non-direct patient care activities as assigned, such as stocking and organization of the unit.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Degree or GED
- Up to 1 year experience in a related field
- Typing 30 WPM
- Computer literate
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
Job Responsibilities
- Answers phones in accordance with Service Excellence standards.
- Assists with the coordination of daily activities of the center.
- Covers all patient appointments, Dr meetings and calls into computer scheduling.
- Communicate with Staff and Dr/Dr office any conflicts.
- Produces daily worksheets for staff and patient information sheets for each Doctor.
- Demonstrates organizational and communication skills to promote the well being of the Center.
- Greets all patients pleasantly and accurately registers them into the hospital computer system according to specific registration requirements.
- Insures consents, NNC’s, registration and orders are verified with current patient information.
