Outpatient Therapist

About the Role

Recovery Centers of America (RCA) is on a mission to save one million lives from the disease of addiction. With over 11 facilities offering evidence-based inpatient, outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment 24/7, we tailor our programs to meet the unique needs of each patient, including specialized care for trauma, multiple recurrences, older adults, first responders, and more. As a Primary Therapist, you will play a critical role in facilitating individual, group, and family therapy sessions, helping patients achieve and maintain lifelong recovery through evidence-based practices.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate clients' mental and physical health, addiction, or problem behavior and assess their readiness for treatment.
• Help clients develop treatment goals and plans, and review/recommend treatment options with clients and their families.
• Assist clients in developing skills and behaviors necessary for recovery from addiction or modifying problematic behavior.
• Work with clients to identify behaviors or situations that interfere with their recovery.
• Teach families about addiction or behavior disorders and help them develop coping strategies.
• Refer clients to additional resources and services, such as job placement and support groups.
• Conduct outreach programs to help people recognize signs of addiction and destructive behavior, and guide them toward prevention.

Requirements

• Must hold valid State of Maryland licensure or credential allowing the practice of Drug and Alcohol Counseling (e.g., ADT, CAC-AD, LGADC, LCADC, LGPC, LCPC, LMSW, LSCW-C).
• One to three years of experience in behavioral healthcare or substance abuse settings serving culturally diverse populations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles for diverse audiences.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects under pressure.
• Proficiency in computer software applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of diverse cultures, gender-specific issues, and the ability to incorporate these needs into treatment.
• Knowledge of case management for dual-diagnosis patients.
• Maintains confidentiality and exhibits excellent customer service skills in all interactions.

Work Environment

• Operates in a professional office environment with standard office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets).

Physical Demands

• Occasionally stands, walks, sits, reaches, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, or crawls.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
• Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and adjusted vision.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during business hours, though some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
