Outpatient Service Rep III

Job Summary

Greets patients and conducts daily interactions demonstrating a positive organizational attitude. Interviews patients for complete and accurate financial and insurance information. Verifies required authorizations as needed. Answers the telephone and routes calls appropriately. Acts as a liaison between the facility, physicians, insurance companies, and other healthcare agencies. Handles patient collections at the time of registration. Observes strict confidentiality in handling patient information. Schedules patient appointments and verifies pain management benefits, insurance coverage, and obtains authorization for all visits and/or special procedures.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer service setting.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Prefer previous college or vocational training.
• Prefer typing speed of 30-40 words per minute.
• Prefer knowledge of medical terminology and third-party payers.
• Prefer computer literacy with Windows-based programs.
• Prefer the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Prefer the ability to communicate courteously and professionally with the public.
• Prefer the ability to handle difficult customers or situations.
• Prefer the ability to prioritize duties and demonstrate initiative and self-direction.

Preferred Qualifications
