About the role
Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking an Outpatient Psychiatrist to join their integrated healthcare team. The Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, medication management, and ongoing treatment in an ambulatory, primary care-based setting. This position works closely with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, and interdisciplinary care teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered mental healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive outpatient psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
- Provide medication management and ongoing treatment for patients with mental and behavioral health conditions
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans
- Support symptom stabilization, remission, functional improvement, and long-term wellness
- Collaborate with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Order, review, and interpret laboratory testing and other diagnostic procedures when clinically appropriate
- Make referrals for therapy, specialty services, psychological testing, and follow-up care
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and ongoing care
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely electronic health record documentation
- Participate in peer review, quality-improvement initiatives, and accreditation-readiness activities
- Provide clinical guidance and oversight for psychiatric treatment delivered by behavioral health professionals
- Teach and supervise residents, medical students, and allied health professionals when applicable
- Protect patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety
- Deliver care in a respectful, compassionate, and ethical manner
- Comply with HIPAA, federal, state, accreditation, HRSA, and TFHC requirements
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited medical school
- Successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Psychiatry
- Active and unrestricted Florida medical license
- Active DEA registration
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Ability to maintain hospital privileges at referral hospitals when required
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
- Commitment to maintaining required continuing medical education and professional development
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
