About the role

Star Physical Therapy Services is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to deliver high-quality outpatient rehabilitation services at our clinic located in Cypress, Texas. The Physical Therapist Assistant implements treatment plans, provides hands-on care, educates patients, and supports clinic operations while promoting excellent clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist Assistant will carry out physical therapy treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist and provide hands-on care, educate patients, and support clinic operations. Specific duties include:

  • Carry out physical therapy treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist
  • Provide therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, balance training, and functional activities
  • Administer approved modalities (e.g., heat, ice, e-stim, ultrasound, traction) per PT direction
  • Monitor patient response to treatment and report progress, concerns, or changes to the supervising PT
  • Ensure patient safety at all times during treatment sessions
  • Provide patient education on exercises, posture, body mechanics, and home exercise programs

Documentation and Clinic Operations

In addition to patient care, the Physical Therapist Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Completing accurate, timely, and compliant daily treatment notes
  • Documenting objective measures, patient response, and functional progress
  • Communicating clearly with the supervising PT regarding patient status and goals
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized treatment area
  • Assisting with equipment setup, breakdown, and basic maintenance
  • Supporting clinic flow by managing time effectively and staying on schedule

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, applicants must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program and hold a current Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of Texas. Additional requirements include:

  • CPR/BLS certification
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient environment

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Outpatient orthopedic experience
  • Experience with manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercise progression
  • Familiarity with EMR documentation systems
  • Spanish-speaking (preferred but not required)

Physical Requirements

The Physical Therapist Assistant must be able to:

  • Stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods
  • Lift, assist, and transfer patients as needed (up to 50 lbs)
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity for hands-on treatment techniques

Work Environment

The Physical Therapist Assistant will work in an outpatient orthopedic clinic with a moderate to high patient volume, in a team-based, collaborative setting.
