About the role

The Outpatient Pharmacy Accounts Receivable Specialist manages retail pharmacy third-party accounts receivable reconciliation, including collection activities, monthly statement preparation, invoicing, and bankruptcy notice management. This role serves as the primary point of contact for the A/R system, generating reports and processing claims to reconcile pharmacy claims with third-party payments. Responsibilities also include identifying trends in incorrect reimbursements, unfavorable contract terms, and provisions affecting pharmacy reimbursement, as well as participating in routine pharmacy compliance audits and internal monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Pursue collection activities for outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Assist with preparing monthly statements and invoicing.
  • Manage bankruptcy notices and related documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point person for the A/R system, providing necessary reports and processing claims.
  • Reconcile pharmacy claims to third-party payments.
  • Alert management to trends involving incorrect reimbursements, unfavorable contract terms, or provisions affecting pharmacy reimbursement.
  • Participate in routine pharmacy compliance audits and internal monitoring, focusing on compliance and proper documentation.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of healthcare billing/accounts receivable experience required.
  • Alternatively, an Associate’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field with three (3) years of healthcare billing/accounts receivable experience.
  • Or a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field with one (1) year of healthcare billing/accounts receivable experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of EPIC and retail pharmacy systems.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, with hours dependent on the operating needs of the Outpatient Pharmacy.
