Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapist at The Carrell Clinic Dallas

About the role

Innovative Therapy Concepts (ITC), a physical therapist–owned therapy management organization, partners with Carrell Clinic to provide outpatient orthopedic physical therapy services. We are seeking a Physical Therapist to evaluate and treat a diverse caseload of surgical and non-operative patients, including upper and lower extremity and spine conditions. The role emphasizes restoring function, relieving pain, and preventing disability through medically prescribed interventions in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Review physician referrals and patient medical records to determine required physical therapy treatment.
• Perform tests and measures of strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and cardiopulmonary efficiency; record findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
• Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on evaluation of patient data.
• Administer manual and therapeutic exercises to improve strength, range of motion, flexibility, and cardiovascular function.
• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing physical activities and using supportive devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, prostheses, and orthotics.
• Apply physical agents and modalities including hot/cold packs, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, TENS, and dry needling.
• Evaluate treatment effects at various stages and adjust interventions to achieve maximum benefit.
• Administer massage and traction as indicated.
• Document treatment, response, and progress in patient records or electronic systems.
• Instruct patients and families in home exercise programs and care procedures.
• Confer with physicians and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, recommend revisions in treatment, and integrate care plans.
• Orient, instruct, and direct work activities of assistants, technicians, and students.
• Participate in clinical mentorship, research, and professional development activities.
• Supervise physical therapy assistants or technicians in designated situations.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program.
• Active and current Physical Therapist license in Texas; must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination and fulfill state requirements such as jurisprudence exam.
• Strong drive to learn, grow, and enhance clinical skills with an emphasis on patient care, quality, outcomes, and efficiency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to educate patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work occasional weekend shifts in designated sites.
• Responsible, detail-oriented professional with a solid work ethic and commitment to ethical practice.
