About the role

Innovative Therapy Concepts (ITC), a Physical Therapist owned and operated therapy management organization, partners with Texas Orthopedics to provide outpatient orthopedic physical therapy services. We are seeking a Physical Therapist to join our team, practicing in an environment that emphasizes “Elevating the Experience” for each patient. This role offers exposure to a diverse caseload, including surgical and non-operative patients, with opportunities to treat upper and lower extremity as well as spine conditions. The ideal candidate will administer medically prescribed physical therapy to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.

Responsibilities

• Review physician referrals and patient medical records to determine required physical therapy treatment.
• Perform tests and measures to assess patient strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory/circulatory efficiency; record findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
• Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on patient evaluation data.
• Administer manual and therapeutic exercises to improve strength, range of motion, flexibility, and cardiovascular function.
• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing physical activities and using supportive devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, and prostheses.
• Administer treatments involving physical agents and modalities, including hot/cold packs, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, TENS, and dry needling.
• Evaluate treatment effects at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
• Administer massage and traction to relieve pain.
• Record treatment, response, and progress in patient charts or enter information into computer systems.
• Instruct patients and families in home treatment procedures.
• Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices; recommend modifications to orthotists.
• Confer with physicians and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest treatment revisions, and integrate physical therapy with other aspects of patient care.
• Orient, instruct, and direct work activities of assistants, technicians, and students.
• Plan and conduct lectures and training programs on physical therapy for medical staff, students, and community groups.
• Participate in physical therapy research programs and conduct related research.
• Consult and collaborate with a variety of professionals, including physicians, nurses, educators, social workers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and audiologists.
• Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants or Techs in designated situations.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program.
• Active and current Physical Therapist License to practice in Texas, including passage of the National Physical Therapy Examination and fulfillment of state requirements such as jurisprudence exam.
• Willingness to work occasional weekend shifts in designated sites.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to educate patients about their condition, treatments, and to communicate with patients’ families.
