Outpatient Laboratory Coordinator

About the role
This position provides leadership and support for lab assistants and couriers. You will train, direct, schedule, and assign work, coordinate departmental orientation, competency testing, compliance education, safety training, and other mandatory instruction. You’ll edit employee time records, collaborate with cross-functional departments to develop efficient processes, and troubleshoot workflow issues. Additional responsibilities include ordering tests using LIS and HIS, reviewing test orders for accuracy, maintaining QA records, and managing inventory and supplies.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize, organize, and handle a high volume of work with accuracy and completeness
- Manage complex assignments, delegate tasks, and apply strong judgment and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate procedure knowledge and quality assurance documentation
- Assume supervisory duties when the supervisor is offsite or as delegated
- Coordinate workflow with non-lab departments (e.g., registration, patient accounting, radiology, outside courier agencies)
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Formal Phlebotomy training (Preferred)
- Certified Phlebotomist
- 1-2 years of customer service experience in healthcare (Preferred)

Schedule
- Full-Time (80 hours biweekly)
