Outpatient Lab Service Technician

Responsibilities
- Performs venous, capillary, and line collections, and Point of Care (POC) testing for patients of all ages to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on instructing patients with collections of various specimen types.
- Performs all processes and procedures according to protocol, ensuring accurate patient identification, specimen integrity, and sample labeling.
- Interacts with customers in a pleasant, efficient, and cooperative manner in a fast-paced environment.
- Works cooperatively with peers, gives and receives constructive feedback.
- Responsible for training, educating, and mentoring new and existing staff, troubleshooting, and resolving problems.
- Prioritizes work, accommodates scheduling adjustments, and demonstrates good decision-making skills.
- Maintains a professional image at all times.
- Participates in special projects as assigned by the management team and serves as a resource to others.
- May be required to attend the Mayo Clinic phlebotomy training program.
- Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and a graduate of a phlebotomy training program that provides a clinical rotation or 3 months of phlebotomy experience.
- MLT/MT/CLS degreed candidates with phlebotomy experience.
- Foreign-trained lab personnel must provide a detailed equivalency High School evaluation to include a U.S. equivalent degree at the applicant's expense.
- DLMP employees that have been in their current lab/position less than 2 years must attach early release approval from their supervisor.
- Non-DLMP internal applicants that have been in their current department/position for less than one year must attach early release approval from the supervisor.
