Outpatient Lab Service Technician

Responsibilities

• Performs venous, capillary, and line collections, and Point of Care (POC) testing for patients of all ages to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
• Serves as a subject matter expert on instructing patients with collections of various specimen types.
• Performs all processes and procedures according to protocol, ensuring accurate patient identification, specimen integrity, and sample labeling.
• Interacts with customers in a pleasant, efficient, and cooperative manner in a fast-paced environment.
• Works cooperatively with peers, gives and receives constructive feedback.
• Responsible for training, educating, and mentoring new and existing staff, troubleshooting, and resolving problems.
• Prioritizes work, accommodates scheduling adjustments, and demonstrates good decision-making skills.
• Maintains a professional image at all times.
• Participates in special projects as assigned by the management team and serves as a resource to others.
• May be required to attend the Mayo Clinic phlebotomy training program.
• Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and a graduate of a phlebotomy training program that provides a clinical rotation or 3 months of phlebotomy experience.
• MLT/MT/CLS degreed candidates with phlebotomy experience.
• Foreign-trained lab personnel must provide a detailed equivalency High School evaluation to include a U.S. equivalent degree at the applicant's expense.
• DLMP employees that have been in their current lab/position less than 2 years must attach early release approval from their supervisor.
• Non-DLMP internal applicants that have been in their current department/position for less than one year must attach early release approval from the supervisor.

$20.46 - $28.25 / hour
