Outdoor Pursuits Attendant

About the role

This seasonal role runs from May to September 2027 at Dune Deck Beach Club in Westhampton Beach, New York. The Outdoor Pursuits Attendant ensures the highest level of service to club members by providing personal and professional service throughout the property for all outdoor activities. This hands‑on role encompasses organizing, instructing, and encouraging activities, with as much participation as possible in all activities on property. You will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for members and fellow employees.

Responsibilities

• Follow the Outdoor Pursuits Standard Operating Procedure at all times.
• Perform duties and tasks throughout the Club as assigned such as stocking, cleaning and preparing for members’ excursions and activities.
• Attend the morning briefing.
• Attend the end‑of‑day shut down adhering to the schedule set out by management.
• Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for Outdoor Pursuits.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and managers.
• Be an ambassador of the property and DLC at all times on or off property.
• Maintain adherence to and stay abreast of any changes to the Employee Handbook.
• Be on time when starting a shift and prompt with each job assignment.
• Help implement monthly stock take/inventories of all parts and tools required for the area as advised by the OP Manager.
• Maintain knowledge of activities and instruct activities including, but not limited to, surfing, pickleball, volleyball, football, baseball, paddle boarding, tubing, frisbee and watersports.
• Set up and break down Movies on the Beach.
• Greet all members.
• Participate in activities and games with members.
• Facilitate sporting and special events.
• Help members in and out of the water with water equipment.
• Ensure safety of members and children in and around the pools and beach.
• Make bonfires.
• Tend to members and guests utilizing Outdoor Pursuits areas, ensuring and maximizing their safety and enjoyment at all times.
• Assist members and guests in all activities.

Requirements

• Previous experience in the guest service industry.
• CPR certification is a plus.
• Certificates/qualifications preferred.
• Experience in hospitality is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work flexible hours and on weekends.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays; long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
