About the role
Siteline Design is seeking a collaborative Outdoor Experience Designer to shape how people move through natural landscapes. The role involves designing for durability and broad user ranges, including mountain biking, multi-use trails, and general foot traffic.
Responsibilities
- Design trail networks, recreation features, and custom amenities from concept through construction documentation
- Conduct site analysis and develop corridor alignments that optimize the user experience
- Create concept plans, feasibility studies, illustrative diagrams, and client-facing presentations
- Contribute to material specs and renderings, coordinating with the technical design team on buildable, fabrication-ready details
- Build trail experiences with a beginner-to-expert progression
- Participate in field activities such as site visits, construction oversight, and design refinement based on real-world conditions
Requirements
- 3+ years designing trails, parks, or outdoor recreation spaces
- A strong point of view on aesthetics and function, balanced with genuine collaboration
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD/Civil3D, SketchUp, and ArcGIS/QGIS
- Working knowledge of outdoor construction materials and their longevity
- Bachelor's in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Design, or equivalent portfolio/experience
- Comfort working in the field, including remote sites, varied conditions, and active construction
Qualifications
- Personal love of riding, hiking, or running the places you design
- Experience with pump track or adaptive trail design (a plus)
- Familiarity with NEPA/USFS permitting (a plus)

Location
We prioritize candidates based in Southeastern USA, with a preference for Western or Central NC. The role includes travel across the region and beyond. Based in Chapel Hill, Charlotte, and Brevard, NC.
