About the role
APAC-AL, Inc., part of CRH’s South Central Division, is seeking a skilled Driver to join their team. This position involves operating end dump and/or belly dump trucks (with and without pups), delivering various materials including soils, aggregates, and other materials to residential and commercial locations. The role also includes making pre and post-trip inspections, performing routine maintenance, and communicating effectively on the radio system.
Responsibilities
- Operate end dump and/or belly dump trucks (with and without pups) safely and efficiently.
- Make pre and post-trip inspections, oil, grease, service, and make normal operating adjustments to the truck.
- Move transported materials as needed, including using hand tools such as wrenches/screwdrivers.
- Load and unload large quantities of water for compaction and/or dust control.
- Ensure the efficient working condition of the equipment and perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Communicate effectively and be a team player.
Requirements
- Thorough operational knowledge and skills of end dumps and/or belly dumps (with and without pups) and related equipment.
- Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Must keep time and material records.
- Must follow verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of different types and sizes of aggregates.
- Maneuvering and backing skills with double and triple pup.
- Able to communicate effectively on the radio system.
- Connect and disconnect pup trailer.
- Ability to lift and/or move from 10 to 30 lbs.
- Be able to climb, sit/drive, shift gears, cover/uncover loads, change wheels, adjust lugs, and use hand tools such as wrenches/screwdrivers.
Qualifications
This position requires at least one year of related experience. Must be able to operate equipment safely and efficiently, and have the ability to make pre and post-trip inspections, oil, grease, service, and make normal operating adjustments to the truck.
Skills
Must have the ability to communicate effectively and be a team player. Knowledge of different types and sizes of aggregates, maneuvering and backing skills with double and triple pup, and the ability to load and unload large quantities of water for compaction and/or dust control are essential.
