About the Role

Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) in Trail, BC, is seeking two otolaryngologists to join a growing ENT department. This role offers the opportunity to advance otolaryngology care in the West Kootenays with access to state-of-the-art technology, including operating microscopes, mastoid drills, nerve monitoring, and sinus surgery image guidance systems.

You will have dedicated OR and ambulatory care time to manage a diverse range of surgical cases. Collaboration is a cornerstone of the practice, with opportunities to work alongside specialists in orthopedics, general surgery, urology, OB/GYN, and plastic surgery. The role supports both generalists and those with subspecialty expertise, fostering innovation and professional growth.

About the Facility

Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) serves 85,000 residents across the region, providing comprehensive care from emergency and trauma services to specialized units for intensive care, acute medical conditions, renal dialysis, and neonatal intensive care. The hospital is equipped to handle high-acuity cases, supported by a 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART).

Specialized services include ophthalmology, otolaryngology, orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, plastic surgery, psychiatry, urology, general surgery, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, oncology, and internal medicine. KBRH is the regional hub for healthcare, committed to medical excellence and compassionate care.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized otolaryngology care, including surgical and ambulatory services.
• Utilize advanced ENT technologies and equipment to ensure precision and optimal patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and surgical practices.
• Participate in the growth and innovation of the ENT department at KBRH.

Pay

Compensation is fee-for-service with an estimated remuneration of $350,000–$500,000, based on the MOCAP level 2 model.

• Flexible scheduling with ample vacation leave.
• Eligibility for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including:
  • 11.48% retention premium.
  • $17,790 retention flat fee.
• Relocation funding: $9,000 if moving within BC, $12,000 within Canada, and $15,000 from outside Canada.
• $15,000 recruitment incentive, prorated for part-time work.
• Continuing Medical Education (CME) funding: $600 for up to 2 years, $3,600 during the 3rd and 4th years, and $6,600 after 4 years, in addition to Doctors of BC CME funds.
