About the Role

Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) in Trail, BC, is seeking two otolaryngologists to join a growing department focused on advancing ENT care in the West Kootenays. The ENT suite is equipped with the latest technology, including operating microscopes, mastoid drills, nerve monitoring, and sinus surgery image guidance systems, ensuring precision and optimal patient outcomes.

You’ll have allocated OR and ambulatory care times, allowing you to manage a diverse range of surgical cases. Collaboration is central to the practice, with opportunities to work alongside specialists in orthopedics, general surgery, urology, OB/GYN, and plastic surgery, fostering multidisciplinary innovation in head and neck surgery.

KBRH supports both generalists and subspecialists, providing a platform to leverage cutting-edge technologies and contribute to groundbreaking patient care. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the community while advancing your professional journey.

About the Facility

Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH) serves 85,000 residents across the region, providing comprehensive care from emergency and trauma services to specialized units for intensive care, acute medical conditions, renal dialysis, and neonatal intensive care. The hospital is equipped to handle critical demands with precision and compassion.

Specialized care is delivered by a dedicated team of experts in ophthalmology, otolaryngology, orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, plastic surgery, psychiatry, urology, general surgery, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, oncology, and internal medicine. As the regional hub, KBRH operates a 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) for critically ill and injured patients, reinforcing its role as the key healthcare facility in the area.

Pay

Compensation is fee-for-service with estimated remuneration between $350,000 and $500,000, based on the MOCAP level 2 model.

Benefits

  • Flexible scheduling with ample vacation leave
  • Eligibility for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including:
    • 11.48% retention premium
    • $17,790 retention flat fee
    • $9,000 relocation funding if moving within BC, $12,000 within Canada, and $15,000 from outside Canada
    • $15,000 recruitment incentive, prorated for part-time work
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) funding:
    • $600 for up to 2 years in Trail
    • $3,600 during the 3rd and 4th year
    • $6,600 after 4 years, in addition to Doctors of BC CME funds

Rural incentives are subject to change, with current rates confirmed at the time of offer.
