OSP Field Supervisor
JOB OVERVIEW
The OSP Field Supervisor is responsible for ensuring construction project activities comply with company and permit requirements. This role supports the overall project schedule by providing technical support for construction, including participation in planning, execution, quality control, and completion of work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Regional Manager, Construction Manager, and QA/QC Technicians
- Contribute to the management of overall project performance
- Under guidance, assist in identifying potential stakeholder conflicts and facilitating resolution
- Communicate project risks to the Regional Manager as they arise and assist in developing appropriate risk mitigation steps
- Assist and guide QA/QC Technicians on areas of completion and inspection-ready segments of construction
- Effectively communicate within the assigned project population
- Responsible for safe work practices and implementing company safety programs for all internal and subcontractor crews throughout area of responsibility
- Work with local governing agencies and subcontractors to meet or exceed production goals as established in the fiscal year business plan
- Support the Utility Coordinator on the utility locate process to ensure a continuous workflow and mitigate downtime for OSP placing crews
- Provide documentation, reports, and information to Regional Management as directed
- Oversee the care of the equipment fleet under direction and coordinate maintenance
- Manage and control the use and application of tools utilized during the construction process
- Utilize established company tracking methods and systems to report crew productivity and weekly job progress
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks across multiple concurrent project activities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across crews, subcontractors, and regional leadership
- Strong understanding of OSP construction methods, fiber optic infrastructure, and field safety protocols
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, work orders, and project documentation
- Knowledge of NESC, OSHA, and applicable state and local codes
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- College degree or technical certification preferred
- Previous experience managing projects in an OSP environment required
- Previous oversight of contractors strongly preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work performed in a combination of field and office environments
- Must be ambulatory on a variety of terrain, including outdoor job sites
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions
