OSP Coax Splicer
About the role
Splice, rearrange, and terminate copper cables in aerial, buried/underground installations. Install and seal closures on copper cables to industry standards. Test, troubleshoot, and repair copper cable systems, including outside plant facilities, wire, terminals, and loop carrier electronics.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Locate and clear cable faults, ensuring proper function and reliability.
- Prepare cables for splicing, pressurization, and long-term maintenance; monitor air flow and pressure in underground cables.
- Use specialized testing equipment (volt/ohm meters, transmission measuring sets, etc.) to diagnose and correct system defects.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, repairs, and test results.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience in splicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing copper cable.
- Four years of experience in the installation and/or repair of copper cable and other related telecommunications equipment.
- Awareness of all Safety regulations for Line Companies; knowledge of all Utility, N.E.S.C., DOT, and OSHA Safety Rules.
- Industry-recognized certification in splicing and testing copper cable.
- Ability to distinguish the difference between colors.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Fine motor skills and visual acuity are required for success.
- May need to respond in stressful or urgent situations.

- Vehicle and Mileage:
- Option 1: Techs provide their own truck and tools, and received standard mileage from office to jobs sites.
- Option 2: Techs are provided truck and tools. Trucks stay parked in SECC Yard every night/weekends. Company gas card is provided.

- Pay Range: $63,000.00 - $83,000.00/yr.
