Orthoptist

Nature and Scope

Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with disorders impacting eye movement and positioning. Administers therapy, prepares reports, and confers with physicians regarding patients’ needs and progress.

Experience and Education

• Performs work under minimal supervision.
• Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
• Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
• May act as a lead or first-level supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelor's degree, and certification as an Orthoptist preferred.
• Experience: 2 years of experience preferred.
• Licenses: None required.
• Certifications: Orthoptist Certification preferred.
• Computer / Typing: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and able to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
