About the role

The Orthopedic Technician plays a vital role in supporting orthopedic providers and enhancing patient care across outpatient clinics, procedural units, and specialty services. The Ortho Tech is responsible for the application, adjustment, and removal of orthopedic casts, splints, and related devices, while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and education throughout the treatment process. This role works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and clinic staff to support efficient clinic flow, high-quality care delivery, and an excellent patient and family experience.

Responsibilities

  • Apply, adjust, and remove orthopedic casts, splints, and related devices for upper and lower extremities
  • Assist with patient assessments, including vital signs and pain screening
  • Provide clear education to patients and caregivers regarding device care, activity limitations, and follow-up needs
  • Maintain compliance with infection prevention, HIPAA, and safety standards
  • Accurately document care and support clinic operations such as scheduling coordination, referrals, and patient throughput

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 0-3 years of healthcare experience

Qualifications

  • OTC certification highly encouraged

Department Specific Details

  • Will be responsible for covering after-hours clinic on Mondays and Wednesdays until 6:00 PM
