Position Summary

The FAU Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine seeks a dynamic and collaborative Orthopedic Surgeon to join our clinical faculty at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled and specialized physician responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of musculoskeletal disorders and injuries. This position offers the opportunity to provide exemplary, compassionate care within the Florida Atlantic Medical Group with a strong emphasis on serving our broad-based patient populations and actively engaging in teaching, mentorship, and scholarly activities within a thriving community-based medical school setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive orthopedic care, including the evaluation and management of musculoskeletal conditions involving bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic orthopedic surgical procedures.
  • Manage both acute and chronic orthopedic conditions using evidence-based approaches.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and coordinated care.
  • Participate in hospital and community-based outreach programs to expand access to orthopedic and musculoskeletal care.
  • Engage in clinical research, quality improvement, or public health initiatives related to orthopedic surgery.
  • Share scholarly efforts through conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Collaborate with local agencies and community organizations to improve orthopedic healthcare delivery and outcomes.
  • Contribute to institutional initiatives aimed at advancing clinical care and community education.
  • As this is a primarily clinical position, teach and mentor learners in patient care, clinical reasoning, research methodology, and professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of assistant professor or higher required.
  • A Florida medical license, or the ability to obtain one, and ABMS Board certification or eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic teaching, scholarship, and community engagement.
