Assistant/Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery (Tenure Track)
The University of Southern California (USC) invites applications for a new tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Keck School of Medicine.
About the role
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery seeks talented, ambitious individuals from diverse scientific backgrounds who will establish leading edge research programs. Areas of specific interest include but are not limited to stem cell biology and organoids, micro physiological systems (MPS), organ-on-a-chip, biological microelectromechanical systems (Bio-MEMS), and in vitro disease modeling and platform development for translational medicine.
Responsibilities
As a tenured faculty member, responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing innovative research projects that interface with living systems through novel materials and algorithms, microfluidics, controlled force sensing and actuation, and related tools for probing and controlling biomolecular systems, cells, and tissues.
- Collaborating with other researchers and clinicians to advance knowledge and drive societal impact.
- Teaching and mentoring students and postdoctoral fellows.
- Participating in departmental, college, and university committees and initiatives.
- Securing external funding for research projects.
Requirements
Required qualifications include:
- A Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., biomedical engineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, etc.) or equivalent.
- Postdoctoral training in a relevant field.
- Research experience in areas of interest, including stem cell biology and organoids, micro physiological systems (MPS), organ-on-a-chip, biological microelectromechanical systems (Bio-MEMS), and in vitro disease modeling and platform development for translational medicine.
- Strong publication record in high-impact journals.
- Ability to secure external funding for research projects.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in interdisciplinary research.
- Track record of securing external funding.
- Experience in developing and implementing approaches that interface with living systems through novel materials and algorithms, microfluidics, controlled force sensing and actuation, and related tools for probing and controlling biomolecular systems, cells, and tissues.

Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000.
