About the role

Physicians are sought to provide surgical assist services for the orthopedic surgery group at Cowichan District Hospital. The position involves working in the operating room in a surgical assist capacity and joining a collaborative surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Assist orthopedic surgeons during operative procedures in the operating room.
• Participate in the on‑call surgical assistant roster to provide emergency surgery coverage during evenings and weekends.

Schedule

Full‑time: Monday – Friday, 07:30 – 15:30.
Part‑time options are also available.

Compensation

Fee‑for‑Service model.

Benefits and Incentives

• Retention Premium of 4.20% under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement.
• Retention Flat Fee of $6,509.
• Relocation Funding up to $15,000 (amount based on original location).
• Recruitment Incentive of $10,000.

Location

Cowichan District Hospital is located in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, north of Victoria, British Columbia. The region offers a temperate climate, scenic rain forests, mountains, lakes, rivers, beaches, and a variety of outdoor activities. The community comprises over 15 towns and is situated on the unceded territories of several Indigenous peoples.
