About the role

The Orthodontic Clinical Lead is the clinical leader at the office level responsible for providing support to the Orthodontic Manager for the day-to-day functions of the Orthodontic office and to the Orthodontists for clinical orthodontic treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated supervisory ability
  • Ensure the office delivers quality care to every patient
  • Assist Orthodontist during examination and treatment of patients
  • Assist Orthodontic Team in optimizing the efficiency of the office to better serve patients through building teamwork and scheduling patients and staffing Ortho Assistants effectively
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring, as well as training new ortho assistants
  • Uphold the office to the highest integrity by adhering to all government regulations and company standards
  • Ensure all parents are guided through processes before treatment, educated in oral hygiene instruction, and provided pre- and post-operative instructions
  • Ensure operational readiness of the clinical section of the office
  • Ensure dental equipment is working properly and serve as point of contact with supply representatives and service technicians
  • Prepare patient for examination and treatment
  • Take quality orthodontic facial photos
  • Prepare tray set-ups for dental procedures
  • Mix amalgam, cement, pulp paste, and prepare impression materials
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment
  • Assist professional orthodontic staff with treatment
  • Document patient information, treatment plans, and procedures in patient chart
  • Pour, trim, and polish impression casts
  • Fabricate custom impression trays
  • Train and hold staff to the highest integrity by adhering to all government regulations, company standards, and compliance programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or GED equivalent
  • At least 2+ years of Orthodontic Experience
  • Orthodontic or Dental Assistant Certification (State dependent) and willingness to work in the general dental practice as needed
  • X-ray certification and other certified dental assistant credentials (state and position specific)

Skills

  • Train and lead new Ortho Assistants in all Orthodontic procedures
  • Must love working with children

Physical Requirements

  • Effectively communicate and exchange information with patients, their parents, clinicians, and staff
  • Operate a computer, keyboard, and standard office equipment
  • Lift/carry up to 30 lbs and be able to twist, turn, bend, and stoop
  • The majority of work is performed in a clinical environment which may require availability for extended hours during peak periods
  • Work hours may change to meet business needs
