About the role

The Organizational Development Technician supports the Port’s Organizational Development workgroup under the Human Resources Department. They assist with planning, coordinating, and administering training and development activities, providing information to Port staff about OD programs and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and administer training and development activities
  • Provide information to Port staff via phone, email, and in person about OD programs and processes
  • Assist with management of digital learning content, compliance training, reporting, and analytics
  • Coordinate and facilitate New Hire Orientation, Port 101, and Managing Compliance training
  • Support the development and delivery of workforce learning opportunities that promote growth, engagement, and a culture of continuous learning
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Information Technology, Safety, and other Department leaders to design high-quality learning experiences

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible technical and office support experience in a human resources office/environment
  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by specialized training in human resources, public or business administration, or a related field

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, rules, policies, and procedures applicable to areas of responsibility
  • Basic methods and practices of public personnel administration
  • Benefit plans, including medical, dental, life, and leaves of absence, COBRA, deferred compensation, and retirement
  • Practices and techniques in conducting recruitment, testing, and selection programs
  • Methods, practices, documents, and terminology used in processing human resources transactions and in financial recordkeeping
  • Basic human resources and internal control policies and procedures
  • General human resources systems
  • Business arithmetic and basic financial and statistical techniques

Skills

  • High attention to detail and application of rules and specific procedural requirements
  • Interpret benefit plan documents and communicate policy details clearly
  • Review human resources and payroll documents accurately
  • Prepare clear and accurate records and reports
  • Maintain confidentiality of Port documents and records
  • Perform technical human resources duties in support of department and Port-wide programs
  • Compose correspondence and reports independently or from brief instructions
  • Make accurate arithmetic, financial, and statistical computations
  • Establish and maintain a variety of filing, recordkeeping, and tracking systems
  • Effectively use computer systems, software applications relevant to work performed, and modern business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks
  • Independently organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, using appropriate English grammar and syntax
  • Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy and procedural guidelines
  • Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

Pay

  • Hiring Range Negotiable Between : $56,709 - $72,000 DOQ/DOE*

Schedule

  • Occasional Saturdays to assist the department with recruitment events
