About the role

We are looking for a dynamic and people-centered Organizational Capability & Training Specialist to join our Human Resources team and play a pivotal role in building a high-performing, future-ready workforce.

Sitting at the intersection of organizational development, learning design, and change enablement, this role gives you the opportunity to shape how Yamaha develops its talent from the ground up — designing and delivering impactful learning programs, conducting capability assessments, and partnering with business leaders across the organization.

This is more than a training role; it is a strategic seat at the table where your work directly drives employee performance, organizational agility, and long-term business success.

If you are passionate about developing people and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and facilitate engaging instructor-led, virtual, and digital learning programs aligned to business objectives and adult learning principles.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and skills gap analyses to identify organizational capability priorities and learning opportunities.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and department leaders to align training strategies with current and future business goals.
  • Manage and maintain learning management system (LMS) content, reporting, and learner data to ensure program integrity and measurable outcomes.
  • Support and continuously improve onboarding, leadership development, and succession planning programs across the organization.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness using the Kirkpatrick Model or comparable evaluation frameworks, and apply findings to drive continuous program improvement.
  • Build and maintain capability frameworks, competency models, and role-specific learning paths that support talent development and career progression.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning and development by promoting available resources, recognition of learning milestones, and growth mindset behaviors.
  • Cook up and maintain capability frameworks, competency models, and role-specific learning paths that support talent development and career progression.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, subject matter experts, and third-party content providers to supplement internal programming with best-in-class solutions.
  • Support organizational change management and transformation initiatives by designing targeted learning interventions and communications that accelerate adoption.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Instructional Design, or a closely related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, or HR training roles.
  • Hands-on experience with LMS platforms such as Cornerstone OnDemand, SAP SuccessFactors Learning, or Workday Learning.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to design curriculum and learning experiences using adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrated experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field, or professional certification such as ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), SHRM-CP/SCP, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, powersports, automotive, or similarly fast-paced, product-driven industry environment.
  • Familiarity with competency frameworks, talent management systems, and performance consulting practices.
  • Change management certification (Prosci ADKAR or equivalent) and demonstrated experience supporting enterprise-level change initiatives.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish or English/Japanese) is a plus and highly valued in our diverse, global team environment.
