Job Summary

Mercury is seeking an Organic Search Marketer (SEO/AEO) to help define how Mercury shows up across search engines, answer engines, and AI-native discovery. This role involves shaping Mercury’s modern search strategy, driving traffic and AI visibility for Mercury products, and turning Mercury’s expertise into discoverable, authoritative, and useful content.

About the Role

The Organic Search Marketer will identify high-impact opportunities, develop SEO and AEO strategies, experiment with new workflows and formats, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn strategy into shipped work. They will also strengthen how Mercury products are surfaced across owned and earned media and relentlessly test new plays to improve search traffic and visibility.

Responsibilities

  • Own product-level SEO and AI Search strategies, prioritizing opportunities, closing coverage gaps, and improving content effectiveness.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Social, Product, Product Marketing, Engineering, and Community teams to turn SEO and AEO opportunities into shipped work across channels.
  • Work closely with Engineering to improve page speed, rendering, and site architecture, and experiment with new delivery techniques.
  • Build repeatable systems, AI workflows, and guidelines for consistent, efficient, and impactful SEO and AEO efforts.
  • Optimize SEO-driven evergreen content, balancing writing quality, usefulness, and brand standards.
  • Identify and scope high-value tools, templates, calculators, downloadable PDFs, and other multi-format assets to make Mercury content more useful, shareable, linkable, and cite-worthy.
  • Test new plays for improving traditional and AI search traffic and visibility, scaling what works and stopping what doesn't.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of SEO experience, with 2-3 years focused on AEO, preferably in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Deep technical fluency paired with a clear grasp of how LLMs interpret and weight content differently from traditional search engines.
  • Hands-on experience with AI agents and automation tools, with a builder's instinct for turning them into repeatable systems.
  • Sharp, data-informed judgment for prioritizing, scaling, and cutting initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong commercial instincts and curiosity to help define Mercury’s modern search strategy.
  • Collaborative operator who can partner effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • An analytical thinker who can design and run thoughtful experiments and a practical builder who knows when to move quickly, learn, and ship.
