About the role

The Patient Transport team at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is seeking energetic and reliable Orderlies to assist with patient transport services. This role involves moving patients between hospital rooms, elevators, and other areas within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist with transporting patients in wheelchairs, stretchers, and gurnies
• Ensure patients are safely secured during transportation
• Provide assistance to patients as needed, such as helping them to walk or move from one location to another
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines
• Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and other healthcare staff

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role preferred
• Previous experience working in a healthcare setting is beneficial

• Strong physical stamina and endurance
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
