Orchestra/Mariachi Teacher (Grades: K-8)

About the role

Assist with direction of all school band performances, including marching band, concert band, jazz band, soloists, and small ensembles. Assist with establishing performance requirements, enforcing academic requirements, and verifying each student’s eligibility to participate in band. Assist in providing opportunities for band participation in curricular and extracurricular events, including concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, TMEA, and UIL activities. Assist with arrangements for transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events. Comply with federal and state laws, State and Local Board of Education policy, and UIL rules governing band participation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate band program effectiveness and ensure continuous renewal responding to student needs.
• Plan activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition.
• Direct and supervise all school band performances, including marching band, concert band, jazz band, soloists, and small ensembles.
• Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student’s eligibility to participate in band.
• Provide opportunities for band participation in curricular and extracurricular events, including concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, TMEA, and UIL activities.
• Arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
• Develop and implement plans for improvement and growth of band program and show written evidence of preparation as required.

• Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned.

Skills

• Advanced typing skills of 60 wpm.

• Minimum Salary: $68,000 (non-certified) / $68,000 (certified)
