Oracle Database Administrator
About the role
Leidos is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator to join the Compartmented Enterprise Services Office (CESO) effort, supporting the migration to a high-security cloud environment. In this role, you will design, build, deliver, and support highly available, scalable, real-time data persistence for mission-critical applications. This is a 100% on-site position based in Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and support ability and effectiveness analysis.
- Proactively monitor database health, optimize SQL code, and address performance bottlenecks.
- Design and implement database schemas and structures according to project requirements.
- Perform daily database administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of system database and replication issues.
- Monitor database performance and memory allocations using standard tools.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database environments, including data standards and procedures.
- Develop and execute SQL queries for routine and ad hoc requests.
- Modify existing database scripts to enhance systems support and create new scripts for recurring issues.
- Implement security measures, set up user permissions, and ensure compliance with data protection policies.
- Translate requirements and data into usable database schemas by creating or updating queries, scripts, and macros.
- Plan for storage requirements and database growth, scaling infrastructure as needed.
- Maintain data accuracy and ensure maximum uptime, with occasional on-call support.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database problems.
- Collaborate with developers to optimize queries, stored procedures, and database design for applications.
Basic Qualifications
- Must hold a BA degree and have 12+ years of experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
- Candidate must possess an active DOD TS/SCI; may be asked to obtain CI Poly.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and at least eight (8) years of relevant experience; additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
- At least five (5) years of demonstrated experience as a database administrator.
- At least five (5) years of Oracle Database Administration experience, specifically with Oracle 12c, 19c, or later.
- In-depth experience implementing and maintaining database security.
- In-depth experience conducting database performance tuning and monitoring.
- In-depth experience troubleshooting and resolving database problems/issues.
- Experience with procedural languages such as PL/SQL and proficiency in PL/SQL development and optimization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with real-time, highly available data replication technologies such as Oracle Data Guard (configuration, monitoring, failover/switchover).
- Experience with SQL tuning and diagnostic skills including performance tuning (AWR ADDM).
- Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology and/or as a member of an Agile team.
- Experience with database design and development.
- Extensive, in-depth understanding of databases, primarily Oracle and/or other relational and non-relational/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Experience using Oracle SQL/PLSQL and SQL in general.
- IAT Level II Baseline Certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP).
Pay
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
Pay Range: $131,300.00 – $237,350.00
