About the role
The DDC Scope/Scrub Sterile Technician processes, sterilizes, and stores supplies and equipment used throughout the hospital. They ensure all needed instruments and/or trays are assembled and sterilized 100% of the time, maintain an instrument tray contents file, restock supplies, and return equipment to proper storage areas as necessary. They also provide support during elective, urgent, and emergent surgeries, assist in patient preparation and transportation, and maintain education in surgical and related aspects.
Responsibilities
- Process and sterilize supplies and equipment
- Maintain and update instrument tray contents file
- Restock supplies and return equipment to proper storage area
- Assist with preparation, transportation, and supervision of patients
- Support surgical teams during elective, urgent, and emergent cases
- Perform scrub duties and cross-training if assigned
- Perform housekeeping duties as necessary
- Assist in maintenance of all supplies and rotating supplies
- Check for expiration dates of products
Requirements
- Knowledge of location, care, and operation of equipment
- Ability to work shifts including longer than 8 hours and participate in call rotation
- Proficiency in surgical and related aspects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a sterile processing program
- Current certification in sterile processing
