OR RN Circulator 40 hrs

About the role

Participates with the Health Care Team in delivering quality health care to patients in a manner that reflects Kaiser Permanente’s mission, vision, and values while supporting the Labor Management Partnership (LMP) principles and practice. The RN provides support and assistance to patients and the health care team to promote population‑based care, continuity of care, customer satisfaction, and self‑care. Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills with a caring, courteous, flexible, supportive, respectful, open‑minded, appreciative attitude and is committed to a team environment. Responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients during the inter‑operative phase and coordinating care activities with other ASC professionals.

Responsibilities

• Comply with shift, unit and organizational policies and procedures, including reliability and attendance standards.
• Monitor and take corrective action to prevent recurring absences.
• Return promptly from breaks and schedule them to provide adequate coverage; restrict personal business to non‑patient care areas during break times.
• Comply with Kaiser’s Time Keeping Policy to accurately reflect productive time worked.
• Stay informed of organizational policies and current information provided by the employer.
• Comply with contractual responsibilities related to work schedule.
• Participate in clinic and nursing Quality Assurance Programs.
• Maintain a current knowledge and skill base with a personal commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Utilize professional communication techniques.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient and organizational records (HIPAA standards).
• Promote collaboration and professional interaction with the health care team.
• Promote professional conduct and comply with department Standards of Behavior (group norms).
• Attend and constructively participate in staff meetings.
• Demonstrate awareness of new information posted in the communication notebook.
• Utilize assessment data when instituting a plan of care; ensure the nursing plan of care is sensitive to the developmental needs of the patient.
• Use knowledge of the procedure type to plan for appropriate set‑up.
• Obtain and demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to provide age‑appropriate care to patients and families through education, training, and experience.
• Apply principles of correct body alignment in positioning and transferring patients.
• Organize nursing activities efficiently in both circulating and scrub roles.
• Record and document relevant information according to policy and procedure.
• Evaluate and document patient outcomes; participate in unit quality assurance activities on a monthly basis.
• Maintain safety in the use of all equipment according to manufacturer instructions, policy, and procedures.
• Comply with all Kaiser and unit‑specific policies and procedures.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years of RN experience in acute care or ambulatory care/clinic setting within the last five (5) years.
• Two (2) years of experience circulating in inpatient or ambulatory surgery setting within the past five (5) years.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse license (Oregon).
• Basic Life Support certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialty experience within the last three (3) years.
• Three to five (3‑5) years of O.R. circulating and scrubbing experience.
• CNOR/ACLS certification.
• Pre‑op area skills.
• IV start skills.
• Two (2) years of experience circulating in inpatient or ambulatory surgery setting within the past three (3) years.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, variable day off.
