OR Radiology Technologist, Evenings (8 or 10 hour shifts available)

About the role

Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system, University of Chicago Medicine, as an OR Radiology Technologist in the Radiology Department. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Radiology Technologist with a strong focus on operating room imaging.

Responsibilities

• Provides intraoperative radiographic support, maintaining sterile technique
• Works closely with surgical teams to ensure timely and accurate imaging
• Performs diagnostic imaging studies as assigned
• Utilizes appropriate principles of radiation protection
• Exercises professional judgement in the performance of imaging procedures
• Evaluates images for diagnostic quality prior to submission for interpretation
• Prepares contrast media for administration to patients and assists physician in the performance of GI/GU studies
• Handles confidential information consistent with Federal HIPAA legislation
• Interfaces with customers, patients and their family members, medical staff and visitors in a friendly, professional manner
• Maintains physical work environment to be in compliance with regulatory certifying agencies
• Adheres to all infection control regulations
• Recognizes and reports malfunctions of technical equipment
• Maintains the integrity of the online picture archive and the radiology information system by consistently and accurately inputting data into the system
• Follows established workflows for workgroup
• Affords assistance in training new technologists and students
• Rotates on-call responsibilities, weekends and holiday work is required

Requirements

• Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience
• Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved program
• Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists within one year of date of hire
• Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
• Demonstrates proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging
• Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates good decision-making and judgment skills
• Maintains required continuing education as mandated by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists
• Displays strong verbal, written and analytical skills
• Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with knowledge of computers and software programs specific to the UCMC and the radiology department
• CPR certification

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience

Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
