About the role
Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system, University of Chicago Medicine, as an OR Radiology Technologist in the Radiology Department. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Radiology Technologist with a strong focus on operating room imaging.
Responsibilities
- Provides intraoperative radiographic support, maintaining sterile technique
- Works closely with surgical teams to ensure timely and accurate imaging
- Performs diagnostic imaging studies as assigned
- Utilizes appropriate principles of radiation protection
- Exercises professional judgement in the performance of imaging procedures
- Evaluates images for diagnostic quality prior to submission for interpretation
- Prepares contrast media for administration to patients and assists physician in the performance of GI/GU studies
- Handles confidential information consistent with Federal HIPAA legislation
- Interfaces with customers, patients and their family members, medical staff and visitors in a friendly, professional manner
- Maintains physical work environment to be in compliance with regulatory certifying agencies
- Adheres to all infection control regulations
- Recognizes and reports malfunctions of technical equipment
- Maintains the integrity of the online picture archive and the radiology information system by consistently and accurately inputting data into the system
- Follows established workflows for workgroup
- Affords assistance in training new technologists and students
- Rotates on-call responsibilities, weekends and holiday work is required
Requirements
- Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience
- Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved program
- Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists within one year of date of hire
- Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
- Demonstrates proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging
- Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates good decision-making and judgment skills
- Maintains required continuing education as mandated by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists
- Displays strong verbal, written and analytical skills
- Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with knowledge of computers and software programs specific to the UCMC and the radiology department
- CPR certification
Qualifications
- Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience

Eligible for up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus

Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
