OR Project Lead, Environmental Services
About the Role
This role focuses on support services functions, including environmental services, to ensure all required activities are completed in a timely manner and meet the organization's quality standards. The position performs Environmental Services duties, coordinates daily tasks, supervises housekeeping employees in the absence of the supervisor, and ensures a clean, safe environment. This role also covers shift positions during scheduling constraints and assists with various administrative and operational tasks.
Responsibilities
- Completes weekly projects as designated by the supervisor.
- Coordinates all project work assigned by management for shift(s) and communicates progress with other shift leads.
- Reports equipment problems to supervisor and ensures employees are properly equipped.
- Follows proper procedures concerning infection control, chemical control, hazardous waste disposal, and handling.
- Follows proper work safety practices and body mechanics.
- Performs beginning and end of shift check-in and rounds through the facility.
- Operates heavy-duty electrical equipment: wet vacuums, extractors, buffers, floor machines, auto scrubbers, upholstery machines, pressure washers, and upright vacuums.
- Participates in accurate inventory and record-keeping concerning laundry services.
- Communicates supply needs to the manager.
- Performs additional duties such as marking linen, cleaning linen areas, washing/drying mops, rags, lab coats, cubicle curtains, and kitchen linens.
- Sets up furniture, distributes and sets up audio-visual equipment, and performs general cleaning before or after functions.
- Successfully completes competency assessments.
- Answers questions concerning policies and procedures in the work environment.
- Works in open positions to ensure adequate coverage throughout the facility.
- Allocates resources to provide coverage across the facility.
- Conducts quality assurance inspections and ensures corrective action based on minimum QA scores.
- Coordinates and executes small furniture moves and room setups in a timely manner.
- Conducts monthly employee safety committee meetings and department safety inspections.
- Maintains composure and professionalism during difficult situations.
- Assists in the supervision of housekeeping employees in the absence of the supervisor.
- Performs room inspections, coordinates scheduled floor care, shift lineup coverage, inter-department customer relations, and supervision of bed tracking.
Requirements
- One (1) year of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of related experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Bilingual.

Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, bending, and stretching for the majority of the shift.
- Ability to push heavy loaded carts and lift between 30-60 lbs.
- Occasional climbing of ladders.
- Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, blood, body waste, and contaminated waste.
- Exposure to climate conditions when depositing trash in the compactor.
- Possibility of cuts and needle punctures.
- Occasional exposure to hazards which may cause serious injury/illness (e.g., T.B., hepatitis, rodent bites).
- Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate prescription medications and computer keyboards.

Pay
Pay Range: $17.00 - $20.02 per hour.
Schedule
- 40 hours per week.
- 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM.
- Every other weekend (Saturday-Sunday) and every other holiday required.
